Farmers Information and Technology Services (FITS)

The FITS Center in Malita serves as a vital hub for knowledge sharing, agricultural innovation, and farmer support.

As part of the Municipal Agriculturist Office, FITS is dedicated to bringing timely and accurate information to local farmers and fisherfolk empowering them to make informed decisions and adopt new technologies in their agricultural activities.

Through FITS, we aim to bridge the gap between science and the soil enhancing productivity, promoting sustainable practices, and helping farmers thrive in a fast-evolving agricultural landscape.

FITS Programs Offered

Technical Assistance for Backyard and Small-Scale Raisers

- We provide on-site support and practical advice to local livestock raisers helping them improve animal care, manage resources, and increase farm productivity.

Training on Animal Husbandry, Housing, and Sustainable Livestock Practices

- Through hands-on trainings and seminars, we equip farmers with essential skills in animal care, proper housing, feeding, breeding, and eco-friendly livestock management.

Demonstration Farms Showcasing Modern Planting Techniques and Crop Diversification

- Our demo farms serve as learning sites where farmers can observe and apply improved methods in crop production, intercropping, and soil health management.

Distribution of IEC (Information, Education, Communication) Materials

- We regularly distribute printed and digital materials to provide farmers with easy-to-understand guides on best practices, new technologies, pest control, and seasonal advisories.

Conduct of Agri-Information Caravans and Community Learning Sessions

- These community-based activities bring agricultural knowledge directly to barangays featuring discussions, Q&As, and info-sharing led by agricultural experts and extension workers.

- We regularly distribute printed and digital materials to provide farmers with easy-to-understand guides on best practices, new technologies, pest control, and seasonal advisories.

Technical Coaching for Farmers' Groups and Cooperatives

We offer personalized coaching and mentoring to organized farmers and fisherfolk groups enhancing their capacity to manage enterprises, access markets, and adopt innovations.

Malita is known for various cultural arts and heritage of its people and tribes. Gaginaway Festival is celebrated annually every full moon on the month of November and Araw ng Malita is also celebrated annually on November 17.
